Revitalizing Turkana Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

 As a member of the Turkana Chamber of Commerce and Industry, there are several ways and means through which we  can grow the chamber and revitalize its activities to enhance economic development in Turkana County, including cross-border trade.

Membership drive is critical, Implement a targeted membership drive to increase the number of businesses and individuals joining the chamber. Engage with local businesses, offer attractive membership benefits, and conduct awareness campaigns to highlight the advantages of being a chamber member.

On networking events  there is need organize regular networking events, such as business breakfasts, luncheons, and seminars. These events provide opportunities for members to connect, build relationships, and explore potential collaborations. Inviting guest speakers and industry experts can also add value to these events.

All businesses require capacity building with growing membership means our own source  revenue, conduct workshops and training programs to enhance the skills and knowledge of chamber members. Offer sessions on topics such as marketing, finance, technology, and export/import procedures. These initiatives will empower members with the necessary tools to grow their businesses and expand their operations.

The core mandate of the Chamber all over the world is advocacy and Representation, Strengthen the chamber's role as an advocate for the business community in Turkana County. Engage with government officials, local authorities, and regulatory bodies to represent the interests of chamber members. By actively participating in policy discussions and decision-making processes, the chamber can create a conducive business environment.

To enhance visibility for opportunities of our members is through cross-Border Trade Promotion, Explore opportunities for cross-border trade and establish partnerships with neighboring regions and countries. Encourage members to explore international markets and facilitate trade missions, exhibitions, and business delegations to foster connections and expand trade networks. Our members require business support services how can we offer business support services to chamber members, such as access to market information, business mentorship programs, and financial assistance through partnerships with financial institutions or development agencies. These services can assist businesses in overcoming challenges and seizing growth opportunities.

In this time and age digital presence is essential, how can we  enhance the chamber's digital presence? through a user-friendly website, social media platforms, and online directories. Promote member businesses through these channels, share relevant industry news, and facilitate online networking among members.

The other critical role is collaborations and partnerships,  forge collaborations with other chambers of commerce, trade associations, and economic development organizations both locally and internationally. These partnerships can provide access to new markets, knowledge sharing opportunities, and joint initiatives for economic growth.

Our members are  our ears and mouths,member engagement and feedback is paramount, regularly seek feedback from chamber members to understand their needs, challenges, and expectations. Conduct surveys, hold focus groups, and establish a member feedback mechanism to ensure that the chamber's activities align with the interests of its members.

Our Youth form a critical mass of Entrepreneurs,Youth and Women empowerment for Ms part the business ecosystem,  Implement programs and initiatives that focus on empowering youth and women entrepreneurs in Turkana County. Offer mentorship programs, entrepreneurship training, and access to funding specifically targeted at these groups.

By implementing these strategies, the Turkana Chamber of Commerce and Industry can attract new members, engage existing ones, and revitalize its activities to promote economic development in Turkana County, including through cross-border trade.
