Eric Omondi’s Bold Move in Turkana is it a Philanthropic Gesture or a Missed Opportunity for Collaboration?

January 30, 2025

In the heart of Kenya is Turkana County, where the sun beats relentlessly on arid landscapes and poverty looms large, comedian and philanthropist Eric Omondi recently made headlines with his initiative to build an Early Childhood Development Education (ECDE) school structure in a school named Kapoo. His gesture, aimed at addressing the dire educational needs of the region, has sparked both admiration and debate. While his efforts underscore the power of individual action in tackling societal challenges, they also raise critical questions about the importance of collaboration and sustainability in philanthropy.

Turkana County, one of Kenya’s most marginalized regions, has long grappled with systemic challenges, including a severe lack of educational infrastructure. For many children in Kapoo, the dream of accessing quality education remains just that a dream. Eric Omondi’s decision to step in and construct an ECDE school structure was, therefore, a timely and commendable intervention.
The immediate impact of Omondi’s initiative cannot be overstated. For the children of Kapoo, the new structure represents more than just a building it symbolizes hope and opportunity. It provides a safe space for learning, something many of these children have never had. In a region where schools are few and far between, this intervention offers a lifeline to early education, which is crucial for cognitive and social development.

As a public figure, Eric Omondi has used his platform to shine a light on the plight of marginalized communities. His actions demonstrate the power of celebrity influence in mobilizing resources and drawing attention to pressing social issues. By taking on the role of a philanthropist, he has set an example for other public figures to use their influence for the greater good.

Omondi’s initiative has brought national attention to the challenges faced by Turkana County. The social and mainstream media coverage surrounding his project has amplified the conversation about educational inequality in Kenya, potentially prompting other stakeholders, including the government, to take action.

While Eric Omondi’s efforts are undoubtedly praiseworthy, they also highlight the complexities of philanthropic interventions, particularly when they are not coordinated with relevant authorities.

The Ministry of Education and the Turkana County government are the primary custodians of educational policies and infrastructure. By bypassing these institutions, Omondi’s project risks non-compliance with established standards and guidelines. Educational facilities must meet specific criteria to ensure they are safe, functional, and conducive to learning. Without proper consultation, there is a risk that the school may not align with these requirements.

Building a school structure is only the first step in a long journey. For the school to be effective, it needs qualified teachers, learning materials, and a maintenance plan. These elements require careful planning and collaboration with the government and other stakeholders. Without such coordination, the school may struggle to operate sustainably, potentially leaving the children of Kapoo in the same predicament they were in before. I do not support the demolition of what Eric Omond set up at Kapoo, the County Government should have taken over from there and advised Eric on procedures and future collaborations.

Educational structures must adhere to safety and regulatory standards to protect the well-being of learners. Uncoordinated construction projects, no matter how well-intentioned, may overlook critical safety measures, putting children at risk. It is essential that all educational facilities, whether built by the government or private entities, meet the necessary legal and safety requirements.

Eric Omondi’s initiative in Turkana is a testament to the power of individual action in addressing societal challenges. However, it also serves as a reminder of the importance of collaboration and long-term planning in philanthropy. Public figures and philanthropists have a unique ability to drive change, but their efforts must be aligned with the frameworks and expertise of relevant authorities to ensure lasting impact.

Moving forward, it is crucial for individuals like Omondi to work hand-in-hand with the Ministry of Education and county governments. Such partnerships would ensure that projects are not only well-intentioned but also sustainable, compliant, and integrated into the broader education system. By combining the passion and resources of philanthropists with the expertise and infrastructure of government institutions, we can create a more equitable and effective education system for all.

In the end, Eric Omondi’s gesture in Turkana is a call to action  that while individual efforts can spark change, collective action is the key to transforming lives and building a brighter future for Kenya’s children.
Congratulations Eric Omondi do more initiatives in Turkana County.

Leap Beyond Limits, how "You Squared" Can Transform Your Life and Success by Price Pritchett.

 January 7, 2025

By Ekaale Ekuam

What if your journey to success didn't have to be slow, painful climb? What if you could skip the torturous, slow, incremental improvement phase and leap straight into exponential growth? That's the transformational promise of You Squared by Price Pritchett, a short yet powerful how-to guide that dares readers to reimagine their approach to personal and professional growth.

Pritchett challenges the deeply ingrained belief that success must follow a linear trajectory. Instead, he introduces the idea of "quantum leaps," urging individuals to break free from conventional thinking, shed limiting beliefs, and embrace bold, transformative changes in life. The result? A life redefined by purpose, action, and extraordinary achievement.

You Squared is a quantum leap inside. Borrowing from physics, the quantum leap refers to dramatic nonlinear shifts in progress that catapult you forward in ways more traditional methods cannot.

Most people in everyday life stop at small gradual improvements, a professional may be satisfied with a modest increase in salary, a student is satisfied when he has at least somewhat better grades, and an entrepreneur seeks to grow his business gradually. While these steps are of value, these steps normally can't help one realize their full potential.

Pritchett insists that this kind of thinking is an obstacle to greatness. Just think about the way Elon Musk approached entrepreneurship. He didn't aim to make the car batteries just a little better, he reinvented the automotive world with Tesla. And he didn't take some small steps to start space exploration, he started SpaceX with the aim to colonize Mars. These are quantum leaps, bold, transforming actions that create new possibilities.

It's overcoming the limiting beliefs-the self-imposed barriers erected by past failures, civic norms, or the fear of the unknown-what keeps on recurring throughout this book. According to Pritchett, these beliefs form invisible chains of bondage that deny us living the life of which our dreams are fashioned.

Take, for example, the young professional who doesn't apply for a leadership position because he feels he's too inexperienced. It is this limiting belief that keeps them stuck in mediocrity even when they possess the skills and potential to excel. Pritchett challenges readers to recognize such beliefs, dismantle them, and replace them with empowering thoughts.

In You Squared, Pritchett reinforces the idea that success demands bold, decisive action. Playing it safe often leads to stagnation. To achieve significant breakthroughs, you must step into discomfort and uncertainty.

Consider Serena Williams, who dominated tennis-but not only by getting better at the game, by fundamentally changing how she approached training, mental toughness, and strategy. It is in this one area, it would appear, that has separated her from other great athletes and allowed her to be considered one of the greats.

For instance, in life, this may involve such things as pursuing a passion as a different career path, starting a business despite the potential financial risks involved, or enrolling in a course to advance yourself. Such choices can be overwhelming; nonetheless, they usually result in immense personal growth.

You Squared has but one core message, success is a choice-a result of your actions, your mindset, and the decisions you make. Perfection in conditions or circumstances is just an excuse to wait; it delays the process.

This is so relatable to the story of Oprah Winfrey, who, despite all odds in her childhood, took full responsibility for her life and used every opportunity to build a media empire. She didn't wait for the stars to align; she created her own path by taking charge of her story and decisions.

According to Pritchett, true confidence comes from within. It's the unwavering belief in your ability to achieve greatness, even in the face of uncertainty. This self-assurance is the fuel that propels bold actions and opens doors to transformative opportunities.

Just think about the various startups that disrupted whole industries-founders such as Brian Chesky, one of the founders of Airbnb, bet big on an idea with no sure outcome. Their belief in this vision let them take such a simple concept and make it a worldwide trend.

The principles in You Squared are not only applicable to individuals but can also be applied to teams, organizations, and communities. For businesses, the message is clear, in a rapidly changing world, incremental changes will just not do. Companies like Apple, which make bold moves in innovation, are representative of this quantum leap approach.

On a social level, this could mean groundbreaking advancements in education, healthcare, and climate change. Imagine if communities came together to implement radical, visionary solutions rather than incremental reforms.

·       Identify your limiting beliefs, Consider what is holding you back. Is this some kind of fear of failure or judgment? Challenge these thoughts and replace them with empowering beliefs.

·       Set audacious goals, Dream big. Instead of a 10% improvement, envision a 10x transformation.

·       Take calculated risks, Step into discomfort with a clear plan. Bold actions may feel uncertain, but they are essential for growth.

·       Focus your energy: Prioritize areas where you can make the most impact. A laser-focused approach yields better results than spreading yourself too thin.

·       Seize opportunities-act when opportunities are available, even if the prospects appear threatening.

You Squared by Price Pritchett is less of a book and more an invitation to life change. Whether you are an individual seeking personal growth, a professional gunning for career advancement, or a leader driving change, these ideas in this book will inspire you to think boldly, act decisively, and achieve extraordinary results.

Living in a world that rewards conformity, You Squared dares you to break free from the norm and pursue quantum leaps. The question is, will you unleash the exponential possibility within? Leap Beyond Limits Now.

Why 2025 Is Everybody's Moment, Innovate, Adapt, or Be Left Behind

 December 5, 2025

By Ekaale Ekuam
The year 2025 ushers in a time for personal and collective milestones and achievements. But beneath the surface of our revelry, a silent revolution brews in every aspect of our lives, technology and innovation. Whether we realize it or not, these forces are affecting us as individuals and as a whole, changing how we live, work, and interact with the world.
My question is, are we ready for this transformation, or are we holding on to practices that will make us obsolete?
At your workplace, change is happening faster than you think. Tasks once performed manually are now automated, streamlined by technology that quietly boosts efficiency. Yet, many remain in denial, comfortable in their routines, unaware that their relevance diminishes with each passing day. Ignoring this shift is not just risky it’s career suicide. To thrive in today’s world, you must adapt, upskill, and align yourself with technology’s trajectory.
Consider the banking sector, your bank encourages electronic payments to save time and costs, yet you persist in queuing at the banking hall to avoid minor electronic charges. Ironically, this hesitation costs you more in time and opportunity than you realize. The financial world is evolving toward cashless transactions, driven by technology. Staying behind only isolates you further from convenience and financial innovation.
Your travel habits are not an exception. The taxi or Uber driver would rather have cashless payouts so that each and every ride is accounted for digitally. If you try to pay in cash, you may even find fewer drivers ready to pick up your call. This isn't just about convenience; this is all about a digital system that demands transparency and accountability, reshaping how businesses operate.
The rural farmer is no exception. Today, the farmer faces the challenge of meeting international food certifications, which demands innovation at the farm level. Technology has made it possible for produce to be picked directly from the farm and delivered to global markets, adhering to strict standards. This shift is not optional; it is a necessity for survival in this competitive and interconnected world.
Even the arts have not been left behind. Songwriters, producers, and creators alike now know content is the new currency. Innovation drives how music is produced, marketed, and consumed. From AI-assisted compositions to digital distribution platforms, the creative industry is moving at the speed of light. Those who fail to innovate will find themselves irrelevant in a world where trends shift with every click.
It's rather stark: the truth is, there is literally no hiding from the onslaught of technology and innovation. It bodes in every move we make, as even how we communicate with others has changed, right through to shopping and working, and now even the way we think. The invisible hand that shapes our lives is technology.
So, as you enter this new year, take a moment to ask yourself: Are you ready to adapt? Are you leveraging technology to stay relevant, or are you holding onto practices that no longer serve you? The choice is simple: innovate or perish. The world is moving forward with or without you.
The mantra is loud, be aware, adapt to the changing world, and innovate; the future waits for no one.

Why I recommend the book "The Courage to Be Disliked" A Transformative Exploration of Adlerian Psychology.

January 4,2024

By Ekaale Ekuam
Why The Courage to Be Disliked? by Ichiro Kishimi and Fumitake Koga is a thought provoking philosophical self-help book that challenges conventional ideas about happiness, relationships, and self-worth. Presented as a dialogue between a philosopher and a skeptical young man, the book delves into the profound principles of Adlerian psychology. By dismantling societal norms and emphasizing personal responsibility, it offers readers a blueprint for authentic living.
Contrary to the belief that external circumstances determine happiness, Adlerian psychology asserts that unhappiness is self-created. The philosopher argues that life is inherently neutral, and individuals assign meaning to events. By choosing a mindset of positivity and self-acceptance, one can cultivate a fulfilling life.
The book’s title encapsulates a core message: true freedom lies in the courage to live authentically, even if it means being disliked. Many people sacrifice their individuality to gain societal approval, but Adlerian principles encourage embracing disapproval as a byproduct of self-honesty.
The young man in the dialogue believes that past traumas dictate present behavior. The philosopher introduces Adler’s concept of teleology, which posits that people are driven by goals rather than past events. Trauma, he explains, is often used as an excuse to avoid taking responsibility for one’s actions and future.
A cornerstone of Adlerian psychology is the “separation of tasks,” which teaches individuals to focus solely on their own responsibilities and not interfere in others' lives. For example, seeking validation is taking on another’s task instead of staying true to one’s own values. This concept fosters independence and reduces unnecessary conflict.
True happiness emerges from contributing to society and cultivating a sense of interconnectedness. By shifting focus from competition and individual success to cooperation and collective well-being, people can reduce feelings of inferiority and create meaningful connections.
The philosopher critiques the human tendency to seek validation from others. Living to meet external expectations leads to a loss of freedom. Instead, individuals should focus on aligning their actions with their own values and goals, creating a life of purpose and authenticity.
Adlerian psychology emphasizes living fully in the present. Dwelling on the past or worrying about the future distracts from purposeful action. By focusing on what can be controlled, individuals can make meaningful progress in their lives.
Inferiority, often perceived as negative, can be a powerful motivator for growth. However, when it leads to self-pity or unhealthy comparisons, it becomes detrimental. The book encourages using feelings of inadequacy as a springboard for self-improvement rather than a barrier to success.
Adlerian psychology promotes self-acceptance and self-respect. Individuals should embrace their imperfections and resist the urge to meet impossible ideals. Self-respect stems from living in alignment with one’s values rather than chasing societal approval.
The book’s Socratic dialogue format, where the philosopher and the young man engage in spirited discussions, makes complex philosophical ideas accessible. Readers are invited to reflect on their own beliefs and confront their resistance to change, mirroring the young man’s journey from skepticism to understanding.
Beyond theory, The Courage to Be Disliked provides actionable advice for readers to implement in their daily lives:
Recognize and separate your tasks from others. Stop blaming the past for present unhappiness.Take full responsibility for your choices and goals. Contribute meaningfully to society by fostering a sense of community. Develop the courage to be disliked as a path to authenticity and freedom.
In today’s world, dominated by social media and constant comparison, the book’s teachings resonate deeply. It challenges readers to rethink their pursuit of validation, urging them to embrace imperfection and live authentically. The emphasis on community and interconnectedness offers a counter-narrative to the individualism and competition that often define modern life.
The Courage to Be Disliked is a compelling guide to living authentically and embracing the freedom that comes with self-responsibility. By integrating Adlerian principles, the book offers a fresh perspective on happiness, relationships, and success. It encourages readers to rethink their beliefs, confront their fears, and take charge of their lives, making it a transformative read for anyone seeking true fulfillment.
